Paul Clout Design is a firm with a strong interest in environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.  This has developed from a need to promote the idea that being a friend to the environment does not mean that sacrifices need to be made with regards to comfort, luxury finishes and lifestyle.

In a bid to showcase that exclusive lifestyle design can still be environmentally sustainable, a recently completed Paul Clout Designed residence in far North Queensland demonstrated that this can be achieved.  In fact it achieved this aim with such flair that it collected the 2009 BDAQ Award for Energy Efficiency.  It also went on the take out the 2009 BDAQ Premier award..

The Mission Beach House is a stunning modern design with all the comforts and conveniences of a sophisticated and exclusive home.  However this unique home demonstrates that a quality lifestyle can still be achieved with virtually no environmental impact.

This is a Paul Clout signature resort lifestyle home.  It features natural timber, stone and a quality fit-out which encompasses both interior and exterior water features.  The outside design is an integral part of the internal design.

Situated on the beautiful elevated coast line in the tropics of far North Queensland, the house has been designed to take advantage of the breathtaking views over the Whitsunday Islands.  Such an enviable location is not without it's challenges and is subjected to climate extremes including monsoonal thunderstorms, cyclones, high temperatures and intense humidity.

With no connection to public services (including electricity and water), this house does not compromise lifestyle.  A state of the art service core provides all of the energy requirements and services automatically from on-site renewable sources. The home also incorporates the ultimate in passive cooling, ventilation and de-humidifying design features.  It utilizes a combination of high/low mass design for temperature stabilization.

The home is fully fitted out with high-tech lighting, high-end appliances, networked media and air-conditioning throughout.

All this is provided within a contemporary, aesthetically pleasing, and practical design.

Truly eco-friendly aspects set new benchmarks in what is generally considered 'ecologically sustainable' design.  The house ultimately dispels the myth that eco-design equates to bizarre and socially unacceptable, weird outcomes.  It demonstrates exceptional visual, physical and ecological design.
